When Is Bible Study Not Good?

Life Point: Use knowledge to build up others, not beat them down.

When Bible Study builds up knowledge and we use that knowledge to beat someone else into submission.

And unfortunately, this is how knowledge of the Bible is used. As Crowder sings in Praise the Lord, “I used to hold You like a hammer, try to nail down everyone.”

Instead, there is a better way. In fact, this way is a needed direction for our culture. Imagine a culture where people don’t use their knowledge and rights to beat others up. But instead, they use their knowledge to do something opposite.

Imagine a culture where people sacrifice their knowledge and rights to build up someone else.

This is using our knowledge to love others. Love is sacrifice. And the most loving thing we can do with knowledge is to build up someone else.

Today’s Reading is from 1 Corinthians 8:1-13.
